The Toronto Raptors rookie, OG Anunoby has not decided if he will represent Great Britain in international competitions, but has refused to remove the idea from his mind entirely.

Now in Canada, the 23rd pick in the 2017 NBA draft was born in London before moving to the United States as a four year old. He was born in Harlesden, North West London, and like any child from the UK, started playing football before making the switch to basketball when moving to the states.

When asked about representing his country of birth, as well as inspiring the next generation of UK basketball players, Anunoby said:

“It’s definitely something I’d consider,” he said on a potentially representing Great Britain. “I haven’t decided yet but it’s definitely something I would consider. It’s a goal of mine, to inspire kids in Great Britain to want to play basketball and show that they can make it to the NBA from Britain.”

The rookie is proud of his roots, having London in his Twitter and Instagram bio and he always states how proud he is to be from the UK whenever asked.

Anunoby could not only be a steal for the Raptors, he could be a huge asset to Tony Garbelotto and the Great Britain side. The Raptor has been one of the standout performers this year, and although his stat line of 6.6PPG and 2.2RPG may seem modest, Kevin Durant and the media are calling him one of the best and most NBA ready players from the 2017 draft thanks to his defensive reputation.
