In one of the most controversial races in recent history, Hamilton came out on top, but who scored that perfect ten?
Here are my driver ratings for the British Grand Prix…
Lewis Hamilton - 9
A rollercoaster of a weekend that resulted in another win for the seven time world champion. After an excellent Friday and ok Saturday, the main event started with a bang, and contact between Hamilton and Verstappen.
How much he did wrong is up for debate, but Hamilton was lucky not to pick up more serious damage. Despite this (and a penalty), he didn’t put a foot wrong again, displaying some serious pace in his final stint to fight his way up from P4 to claim victory.
Charles Leclerc - 10
If you had offered P2 to Charles Leclerc and Ferrari before the race, they would have taken it without thought, however, they might be disappointed after a superb showing from the whole team. An impressive show in qualifying and the sprint race set Leclerc up for a good result on Sunday, but no-one predicted a podium position, especially when he reported engine troubles.
Valtteri Bottas - 6
A quiet weekend for Bottas who managed to spend the majority of it in P3. It should be noted that he spent a lot of the race struggling to catch and clear drivers in slower cars, but a podium is still a podium.
Lando Norris - 9
Although a podium was the dream, P4 is still an amazing result, especially with a slow pit stop hampering his chances at anything better. More points in the bag means McLaren are showing themselves to be potential contenders once more.
Daniel Ricciardo - 8
An excellent weekend for the Aussie. Right behind Norris all weekend and looking comfortable in the car, this is a big step and hopefully the result he needs to take it to the next level.
Carlos Sainz - 8
An unlucky weekend for Sainz, after being hit by Russell in the sprint, he worked hard to make up for it on Sunday only for a poor pit stop to ruin his chances of anything better than P6.
Fernando Alonso - 9
With each race, Alonso is proving why he's one of the greats. A solid Friday was followed by a stunning sprint qualifying session, where his rapid start gained him seven positions on the first lap. Come race day, the car didn't have enough to fight the top teams, so P7 is a great result for Alpine.
Lance Stroll - 8
A poor start to the weekend ended in the Canadian securing a solid result for Aston Martin. Stroll ended Friday and Saturday in P15 and P14 before gaining more places than any other driver in the race thanks to a superb start. He needs to do better in qualy sessions if he wants to take Aston to the next level.
Esteban Ocon - 7
Again, Ocon flew under the radar with another solid performance. Only a tenth slower in qualifying than Alonso, he made up places in the sprint and continued to do in the race to score an important couple of points.
Yuki Tsunoda - 7
Tsunoda needed a good result after his early-season struggles, and despite a bad start to the weekend, he got the points he needed. Starting in P16 to finish P10 is a great result for the rookie, but he was lacking some pace and needed luck to score, hopefully the break will allow him to come back stronger.
Pierre Gasly - 7
A disappointing weekend for Gasly who had his race ruined through factors he couldn't control. A late-ish puncture puncture forced him to pit and dropped him out of the top-10 and behind his teammate, a result that could have a big effect on the constructors standings come Abu Dhabi.
George Russell - 7
It was the same old story for Russell at his home race. He had an excellent The usual for Russell, an amazing qualifying performance followed by a disappointing race. He did a remarkable job getting his Williams into Q3 but lost any chance at points by hitting Sainz during the sprint qualifying.
Antonio Giovinazzi - 6
An odd combination of having a stronger car than the backmarkers but slower than the midfield left Giovinazzi in a weird position all weekend. Despite some strong showings so far this season, he'll be wondering if he's done enough to secure a seat for next season.
Nicholas Latifi - 5
Business as usual for Latifi. Kept out of trouble and finished behind George Russell.
Kimi Raikkonen - 7
In the fight for points until his late spin (which he could have avoided in my opinioni), Raikkonen has raised more questions about where he will be next season, and personally, I hope that is out of the sport.
Sergio Perez - 4
A poor showing for Perez, who struggled from start to finish. He will want to prove he deserves a contract extension with a good showing in Budapest.
Nikita Mazepin - 6
His best performance in an F1 car to date.
Mick Schumacher - 5
Schumacher had a decent showing on Saturday but struggled to find pace on race day.
Did not finish:
Sebastian Vettel - 5
A costly mistake put him at the back of the pack early on and he wasn't able to recover from there. A shame after a strong showing on Friday.
Max Verstappen - N/A
No rating for obvious reasons.
