McLaren driver Lando Norris will be using a helmet designed by a six-year-old for this weekend’s British Grand Prix after announcing a winner to a competition he held for his fans.
The winner, Eva Muttram beat out thousands of professionally designed and photo-shopped entries with a simple pencil and paper strategy.
When revealing the helmet, Norris said: "It reminds me a lot of when I was younger, designing helmets, drawing away, just when I was like five, six, seven years old, printing off hundreds of helmet designs, colouring them in and doing whatever," Norris explained on a Twitch stream revealing the helmet.
"This is the winner. It's very different to what I'm used to. All this glitz and glamour and sparkly bits and swooshes and cool stuff, I just went with something that reminded me of me when I was young."
With his full name on the side, personal logos and brand colours, the helmet was topped off with a hand-drawn McLaren on the rear, with the British driver jokingly stating "is what our car looks like this weekend with the new upgrade".
With the rule where drivers were prevented from making more than two ‘sizeable changes’ to their designs each season being lifted, Norris has taken full advantage and is looking to run more competitions throughout the year.
