Formula 1 bosses have officially called off the US, Mexican and Brazilian Grand Prix due to the coronavirus infection rates being recorded in the Americas.

Infection rates in those nations are climbing at a high and continuous rate, with F1 bosses believing it would be not only irresponsible, but dangerous to hold races there.

As an alternative, three European tracks in Germany (the Nurburgring), Italy (Imola) and Portugal (Portimao).

Sadly, and despite a different story in Canada, the hopes of a race in the country appear to have been abandoned due to the infection rates of their neighbours and internal travel restrictions and rules.

"Due to the fluid nature of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, local restrictions and the importance of keeping communities and our colleagues safe, it will not be possible to race in Brazil, USA, Mexico and Canada this season."

F1 is continuously working to add races in the Middle East and Asia for later in the year - but nothing has been confirmed beyond the currently published calendar.
